Paraquat herbicide

Herbicides are unique chemicals we apply to control unwanted plants in specific regions such as forests and grasslands. Perhaps you're familiar with one of the more readily known herbicides, Paraquat. But there is an enormous debate as to whether Paraquat itself is safe for people and the environment

Paraquat is an extremely potent herbicide that will readily damage any plant it comes into contact with, in very low concentrations. This means that if ingested orally, inhaled or comes into contact with someone Paraquat can be severely damaging to health. In fact, some nations have ever outlawed Paraquat due to its potential for making serious damage human health. However, some countries still practice the use of Paraquat to date even though it is feared that this would in turn affect worsening environmental conditions.

Soil and Water Impact

Paraquat continues to have an impact beyond the human and plant aspects. It also can wreak havoc on the soil and water, upsetting countless natural plant and animal homes. A draw back of Paraquat that also has been its strength is that it is not biodegradable, such as how after being exposed to sunlight and microbes on the soil surface

According to recent independent research, Paraquat has been detected in groundwater across the U.S. Whether or not considerable numbers of the public is becoming inadvertently exposed to Paraquat through their water supply, remains a questionable conjecture. Additionally, Paraquat has been observed to be toxic in aquatic systems which are crucial ecosystems and pose a risk for some plant species and animals.
